The Piccolo Spoleto Festival

The Piccolo Spoleto Festival is an international arts festival held in Charleston, South Carolina every year. In 2022, I was lucky enough to be part of the "Rising Stars" Program. Here are a few of my pieces I had submitted.

"The Infinite Stream of Consciousness"

"The Infinite Stream of Consciousness"

This is one of my largest pieces to date. It's filled with Stream of Consciousness writing straight out of my own brain. The writing ranges from randoms thoughts to emotions I never would express out loud. It's a piece about thought in its purest form, unfiltered and entangled.

"I fell out of the Window Again :("

This piece was painted on a piece of plexiglass from my school during the pandemic. My idea was to take a piece of material from a dark time and fill it with items I enjoyed painting and would therefore bring me joy. The moss and leaves were added after its completion purely because I liked them as well.

"Oh Shit, here we go again..."

"Oh Shit, Here we go Again..."

This was a warm-up in my senior year art class and I completed it in just under an hour. It shows a mental breakdown through the usage of primary color chaos and half-finished drawings and thoughts. Ironically, I'm not sure where this piece ended up but I found one of the bag's handles in my car's trunk last week...

"You don't need that shit, put it back. (Clyde Simmons)

This is the patriarch of a four-piece series I created for the fictional "Simmons" family. A critique on the morals of traditional family roles. This piece features, again, primary colors as a representation of the varying levels of simple objects and how they stand to moralize a person.

"I'm a delicate man in my own right."

"I'm a delicate man in my own right."

This was painted on a piece of driftwood shortly before a breakup. The background was representative of how I felt in this relationship with fragile items inked on top. The bells were added to create a delicate sound but were removed for the showcase.

"Lillian Monroe fell from the lighthouse last night."

This was one of two pieces that compromised the "Lost Souls" series of shadow boxes I created. Both are supposed to show fictional people's lives stamped into boxes with items they might've owned and a picture of them whited out. If you examine it, you may figure out pieces of Lillian's life.
